Food As Medicine Nugget: These Frozen Greek Yogurt slices satisfy a sweet tooth and creamy craving with very little added sugar. It provides beneficial probiotics and a good dose of protein. Over 80% of our immune system is regulated by the gut, so incorporating probiotic food sources into your daily plan is a great way to ensure the bacteria in your body is working to protect and regulate vs. wreak havoc. Studies have shown eating foods rich in probiotics can lead to an improved immune response by increasing the body’s white blood cell count. Greek Yogurt is also a protein powerhouse, with at least 15g in a 6oz serving! If you chose not to do dairy you can substitute with almond or coconut yogurt. These frozen yogurt barks are a great treat, but can also be considered a breakfast on the go alongside a hard-boiled egg, protein or green smoothie! And who doesn’t like ice cream for breakfast on a warm summer day!?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Greek Yogurt (or alternative)
  • 2 cup frozen or fresh berries
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • raw honey or maple syrup to drizzle

Instructions

  1. Spread the yogurt thinly on a large baking pan and tray lined with Patched paper
  2. Scatter the frozen berries and give the pan a good shake
  3. Sprinkle with coconut (shredded or desiccated)
  4. Drizzle with raw honey or maple syrup
  5. Place in the freezer till frozen
  6. Break into pieces and keep in the freezer
  7. Enjoy any time
